Spring things

Pear tree

In the winter months I always forget just how much influence the weather has on my mood. I walked through the garden yesterday and took in the sight and scent of the blossoming fruit trees and it was if my soul felt a golden wave of happiness. A robin has nested in the garage two doors down, and I managed to adjust the settings on my camera enough to get a quick shot.

I started crotchet a few weeks ago, and I had scoured the internet to find a ripple pattern that a) I could understand and b) wouldn’t leave the finished product with unsightly holes. Then I discovered Attic24’s pattern, and all became clear.

Almost there!

I am planning to arrive in New Zealand in the middle of their winter, so I thought it would be wise to create something that would keep me warm. Buying yarn is very similar to going through expensive lingerie sites: you just can’t stop looking and being filled with ideas to try, so I no doubt will be keeping my hands busy in front of a fire once I’m out there. Still, I look at how quickly the tulips are growing and think of all the fruit I’m going to miss out on harvesting on this side.

I am going to miss this place.

I love your ripple, it looks awesome 🙂 my first ripple was a scarf as well. I can’t get enough of Rowan yarns either, no matter what else I try, I always come back to Rowan.

I really like the colours on yours, I need to be a bit braver and go for some bright colours. I have a bright bright red which I think I’m going to make some squares with. I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive habit…
